Former Bear, Miss Ohio moving to Lincoln Park
Former Chicago Bears safety Jim Cantelupe and his wife, 1999 Miss Ohio Tiffany Baumann, paid $1.415 million for a Lincoln Park single-family home April 12.
Built in 1891, the four bedroom, 3.1 bathroom, 3210 square-foot house is at 1822 N. Fremont St., just north of Willow. Cantelupe purchased it from James and Nicola Jeffreys, who bought it in January 2001 for $987,500.
The home was previously listed for $1.475 million. The Jeffreys were represented by realtors Martha Klein and Ron Vitello of Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate.
Cantelupe, age 33, never saw game action but was on the Bears roster during the 1999-2000 seasons. He later played for the Frankfort Galaxy in NFL Europe.
The suburban Cleveland native was co-captain of the Army football team as a college senior and featured as such in John Feinstein's book, Civil War: Army Vs. Navy-A Year Inside College Football's Purest Rivalry. Reported in The Sporting News, Cantelupe proposed to Baumann via the scoreboard of the Army-Navy game in 1995.
Cantelupe more recently worked as an executive producer on the 2005 feature film Dirty Love, starring Chicagoan Jenny McCarthy. It was called "hopelessly incompetent" by Chicago Sun-Times critic Roger Ebert and earned just $58,116 at the box office, winning the Razzie award for Worst Picture of the year.
Baumann has a role in the film.
